Urban Fabrick Presenting at Greenbuild International Conference 2017

Greenbuild International Conference and Expo 2017

This November, the US Green Building Council brings Greenbuild International Conference and Expo back to Boston – and Urban Fabrick, Inc. will be in attendance. Additionally, two of our leadership team, Wolfgang Werner and Miranda Gardiner, will be presenting at the conference.

On Wednesday, the first day of the conference, Wolfgang’s panel, Kicking Carbon for Credits: LEEDv4 Whole-Building LCA, will present a diverse set of case studies that achieved significant LCA impact reductions and the opportunities and challenges of meeting LEEDv4 criteria. Alongside our colleagues Dirk Kestner (Walter P Moore), Kathrina Simonen (University of Washington), and Leif Johnson (Magnusson Klemencic Associates), Wolfgang will highlight Urban Fabrick’s work at San Francisco International Airport, including selection of LCA tools, the process of defining a reference building, and engagement of the entire team.

Friday morning, Miranda will moderate Reuse or Build New? A Tale of Two Carbon Footprints. Showcasing two projects in the Boston area, MASS MoCA and Kern Center, Christopher Nielson and George Gard from Bruner/Cott & Associates will discuss the design process behind these projects pursing LCA, LEED and a suite of other green building strategies. For a deep dive into the metrics, Mariko Thorbecke from Quantis Inc. will explain embodied and operational carbon, as well as the Greenest Building Study. Followed by time for Q&A, we hope this session will cap off an educational week of sustainability learning and discovery.

Urban Fabrick congratulates these panelists, as well as all the rest of the conference presenters, for their selection into the competitive Greenbuild program. We look forward to hearing the exciting sessions and hope to see you there!
